Frequently Asked Questions
Most essay services rely on templates or formulaic structures designed to produce a “safe” admissions essay. My approach is different. I work with students to discover and develop their authentic voice so the essay actually sounds like them. The goal is not to manufacture a story that admissions officers expect, but to help students write something thoughtful, specific, and genuine.
No. I never write essays for students. The work must always be the student’s own. My role is to guide the thinking process, help shape the narrative, and provide feedback through multiple drafts so students can strengthen their writing while maintaining their own voice.
This mentorship works best for students who want to think seriously about their story and are willing to revise their work. It’s especially helpful for students who feel unsure about what to write about or who want guidance in shaping an essay that feels meaningful rather than generic.
I work with a limited number of students each application season so that every student receives careful attention and thoughtful feedback.
Most students work through the process over several weeks as we move from idea development to drafting and revision. The timeline can vary depending on the student’s application deadlines and how quickly they move through drafts.
I typically meet with students in person at coffee shops or at my workspace, depending on what is most convenient. For students who are not local, or who prefer that option, meetings can also take place through video conferencing.
Yes. After the main personal statement is developed, I can also help students think through and refine supplemental essays for individual schools if time allows within the mentorship.
No. Because sessions can be conducted online, students can work with me from anywhere.
After you submit the application, I review your responses and any essay draft you may have provided. If the mentorship looks like a good fit, we schedule a consultation to talk through goals, timelines, and whether the program makes sense for the student.
No ethical college essay mentor can guarantee admission. The goal of this mentorship is to help students write a clear, thoughtful, and authentic essay that represents them well as part of their overall application.
That’s perfectly fine. Some students come in with only ideas, while others already have an early draft. We can start from wherever the student is in the process and work toward strengthening the essay through revision.
